Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO 2022– Upgrade Programme

It has been made a recommendation of the Advisory Board of the Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO, Pissouri (Cyprus), has been selected to participate in the Upgrade Programme of the Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO on this 2nd edition of the initiative.

Pissouri was selected among over 130 applications from 57 countries, a clear demonstration of its cultural and natural richness and of its high potential to become an outstanding example as a top-tier rural destination.

UNWTO is pleased to offer its support with selected partners to the villages part of the Upgrade Programme in the improvement of the areas identified as gaps during the evaluation process and contribute to make tourism a driver of rural development and wellbeing while advancing the role of tourism in valuing and safeguarding rural villages along with their associated landscapes, knowledge systems, biological and cultural diversity, local values and activities.
